Karl Burke hopes the return to the minimum trip for the Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury will help Reignier regain his best form.
Runner-up in Royal Ascot's Norfolk Stakes, the juvenile finished fourth in the July Stakes over six furlongs at Newmarket last week.
"In hindsight I wish I'd waited for this but he's come out of the race fine and it was a perfectly respectable run in the July Stakes. He takes proven Group form there," said trainer Karl Burke.
"The ground would be a concern. Too much rain would mean we would have to consider pulling him out, but hopefully it won't come to that. The horse is in great form and if his draw (22) is a decent one, he should run a big race."
Pat Morris is disappointed apprentices are not allowed to use their claim in this race.
The trainer has booked Louis-Philippe Beuzelin for the ride on Schoolboy Champ but is annoyed the promising young rider cannot take off his 5lb allowance.
"You can use your claim in a £200,000 handicap, but you can't use it in this race. I can't understand it. I think you should be able to claim it in a £200,000 Sales race," said the Tarporley-based handler.
Trainer William Haggas is hopeful of a good display from Shamandar, who made a winning debut at Ripon earlier this month and has just 7st 12lb to carry.
"She won a weak race very nicely and she's got a fly weight so I hope she'll run well," said the Newmarket handler.
