Gerard Butler will weigh up the likely opposition before deciding whether to pitch Dansant in at the deep end for the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot on Saturday.
The five-year-old, a 66-1 outsider for the midsummer showpiece, was a creditable third to Bronze Cannon in the Group Two Hardwicke Stakes over the course and distance at the Royal meeting.
"He's in the King George. We're really going to look to see what the other guys do closer to the time," said the Newmarket trainer.
"It's quite an expensive entry but if 72 hours before the race a couple of the key protagonists dropped out, it could come into consideration.
"He ran really well in the Hardwicke, finishing nicely from an impossible position and if he didn't go there, he'd go to the Geoffrey Freer at Newbury. If that went well, it could set him up for the Irish Leger and then the Breeders' Cup Marathon."
