Just Call Me Angel could have Italy calling once more

Just Call Me Angel could continue her Italian adventure after trainer Ed Dunlop said his Classic-winning filly may return for the Oaks d’Italia next month.
The daughter of Dark Angel was impressive in her first appearance at San Siro last October, winning by two and a quarter lengths to land a Group Two on her final start as a juvenile.
She returned to the Milan track for the Italian 1000 Guineas earlier this month and held off Marco Botti’s Lizzana by half a length in the hands of Jason Hart.
Although plans are not set in stone, Dunlop hinted at a possible run on home soil over an extended trip before heading back to Italy for a crack at the Group Two contest over a mile and three furlongs on June 21.
“She’s great, she’s come out of the race really well. She’s a tough filly,” he said.
“It was her second trip to Italy – she won the Dormello and now the Guineas – so she’s done very well. We actually took the race on a lot further out than we wanted to, but she held on well.
“We aren’t totally certain what the plans are, but the Italian Oaks will come into consideration. We may well run in England before then, but we will see.
“I think she will get further than a mile, she has that demeanour, but we aren’t certain yet.
“We may well run her in the Oaks trial – the Height of Fashion (at Goodwood) – albeit she will have to carry a penalty, to see about the trip and if she does stay well, we will take the Italian race into serious consideration.”
