Queen's Vase winner Holberg has suffered a setback and is likely to be out for the rest of the season.
Trained by Mark Johnston for his Royal Ascot success, he had been at Darley's pre-training yard where it was expected he would be joining Godolphin. However, having undergone a scan for what was initially thought to only be a minor complaint, Johnston confirmed that plans are now on hold.
He has been scratched from the Ladbrokes Great Voltigeur and the St Leger and Johnston said: "He's been for a bone scan and he's at Darley's pre-training yard at Hamilton Hill."
The Middleham handler went on: "He had a filling in a leg and to be honest we didn't think it was anything serious but the advice is that we should cede training with him this season so that is how it is unfortunately."
