Our website tipster has three bets for Friday's racing action at Ascot and Kempton.
There’s an informative card at Ascot on Friday, with the stand-out bet, for me, in the first race, which might contain several future winners.
I also have a couple of selections in the lower-grade handicaps at Kempton, live on Racing TV. Best of luck.
A move to Paul Nicholls was clearly thought to have brought about improvement in this very promising six-year-old as he was backed into favouritism on his stable debut.
However, he turned out to be a big disappointment as he was pulled up after a bad mistake three out, but he showed that form to be all wrong next time at Taunton where he finished a good second in a very strong contest.
Being by a Gold Cup winner and related to several staying jumpers, his pedigree is all about stamina, so this step up in trip is absolutely certain to suit him much better, plus the stiff Ascot climb should also bring out the best in him.
He has the look of a ‘good thing’ to me, and can make it third time lucky for team Ditcheat.
Hasn’t performed that badly in two juvenile hurdles but it does look a sound move reverting back to the all-weather where he has won twice, including on his latest start on the flat.
He seemed to improve for the step up in trip last time and stayed on nicely to win with a bit to spare, despite the narrow margin suggesting otherwise.
He has gone up 4lb for that, but there could well be improvement to come over 12 furlongs, and he looks a solid option based upon his previous all-weather efforts.
Phil McEntee has had horses placed at 7-1, 50-1, 80-1 and 18-1 from his past four runners so, despite not being amongst the winners, I am very happy his yard is in form.
Porfin is still a maiden but has a couple of good efforts to his name and is the cheaply-bought type his yard does well with.
The major plus for me is that Hollie Doyle is booked to ride, which certainly suggests a good run is expected and, with respect to the 7lb claimer who has been riding Porfin, having one of the best in the world on board cannot be a negative.
This 6f trip also looks ideal as the selection has looked stretched by 7f in the past.
